Since 1879, when it was still named Oil Creek Lake, Canadohta has been a favorite summer destination for many families, generation after generation. Newspapers at the time described the lake and its "shady retreats" as a "cool and romantic resort". "Favorably and centrally located", the lake . . .  "offers a charming and desirable place for people to go and spend a few days at but little expense."

One hundred and thirty years later, it is in that same spirit that our family offers Canadohta Lake vacationers quality lodging at Canadohta's Black Bear Cottages. Our goal is always that each of our guests experience an authentic Pennsylvania lake vacation "at but little expense".
